Basic Motivational Interviewing Training Allen County Community Corrections
Training Institute

Allen County Community Corrections is committed to delivering staff development programming to help community-centered agencies gain the tools to implement evidence-based practices in the fields of criminal justice and health & human services. As a criminal justice institution, the unique challenges of working with involuntary clientele requires that modern staff members develop a high level of awareness for pro-social role-modeling, including the ability to use appropriate modalities to observe safety consciousness and the development of therapeutic communicative pathways.

Motivational Interviewing

ACCC has been offering training in Motivational Interviewing since 2007. Motivational Interviewing is a collaborative, goal-oriented style of communication with particular attention to the language of change. It is designed to strengthen personal motivation for and commitment to a specific goal by eliciting and exploring the person’s own reasons for change within an atmosphere of acceptance and compassion (Miller & Rollnick, 2012).
